Hazard: The helmets violate the impact attenuation, positional stability, certification, and labeling requirements of the mandatory safety standard for bicycle helmets. The helmets can fail to protect riders in the event of a crash, posing a deadly risk of head injury. 

Consumer Action: CPSC urges consumers to stop using the FunFitX helmets immediately, cut the straps, and dispose of them. Do not sell or give away these hazardous helmets.

Product Safety Warning Details

Description: WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to immediately stop using FunFitX toddler bike helmets. The helmets violate the impact attenuation, positional stability, certification, and labeling requirements of the mandatory safety standard for bicycle helmets. The helmets can fail to protect riders in the event of a crash, posing a deadly risk of head injury. 

CPSC issued a Notice of Violation to the importer Hongkong Aak Trading Ltd., of China, and the ultimate consignee, Rugut Trading, Inc. of Fontana, California. Neither entity has agreed to recall these helmets or offer a remedy to consumers. 

About 85 helmets were sold online on Amazon from April 2025 through June 2025. The helmets were sold in extra-small (XS), fitting a head circumference of about 19 inches to 21 inches. The helmets are in the color baby blue and contain a sea life theme with red padding, black straps, and a black buckle with a red chin pad. The helmets have a black plastic knob at the back of the helmet for adjusting the fitting. The model number “SL712” is printed on a label located inside of the helmets.

CPSC urges consumers to stop using the FunFitX helmets immediately, cut the straps, and dispose of them. Do not sell or give away these hazardous helmets.
