    Description: This recall involves Ferrous Sulfate Enteric-Coated Tablets dietary supplements containing 324 mg of ferrous sulfate (iron) in bottles of 100 tablets. “Nationwide Pharmaceutical” and its logo are printed on the top left of the bottle’s label panel. The recalled bottles include lot numbers M0786, M0816, M0817 and M0818, which are printed on the bottom of the bottle.

    Remedy: Consumers should immediately store the recalled dietary supplements in a safe location out of reach and sight of children and contact Nationwide Pharmaceutical for information on how to dispose of the product. Consumers can also return the product to the place of purchase to receive a refund of the purchase price.

  • Zuru Recalls 7.5 Million Baby Shark and Mini Baby Shark Bath Toys With Hard Plastic Top Fins Due to Risk of Impalement, Laceration and Puncture Injuries to Children

    Description: This recall involves both full-size Robo Alive Junior Baby Shark Sing & Swim bath toys and Mini Baby Shark Swimming bath toys. The recalled full-size Baby Shark bath toys sing and swim when placed in water. They have a hard plastic top fin with three grooves on one side, measure about 7-inches from nose to tail and were sold in three colors: yellow, pink and blue. They were sold individually and in packs of three. The recalled full-size bath toys have tracking label information on the bottom, including raised lettering that states model number “#25282” and a date code beginning with the letters “DG” followed by “YYYY/MM/DD” in the date range DG20190501 through DG20220619. Only full-size Baby Shark toys with a hard plastic top fin are included in this recall.

    The recalled Mini Baby Shark bath toys swim when placed in water but do not sing. They have a hard plastic top fin, measure about 4-inches from nose to tail and were sold in three colors: yellow, pink and blue. They were sold individually, in packs of two or three, and as part of a Baby Shark Music Water Park playset. The recalled mini-size bath toys have tracking label information on the bottom, including raised lettering that states model numbers “#7163,” “#7175,” “#7166,” or “#25291” and a date code beginning with the letters “DG” followed by “YYYY/MM/DD” in the date range DG2020615 through DG2023525.

    Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bath toys and contact Zuru for a full refund of $14 for each full-size bath toy or $6 for each mini-size bath toy, in the form of a prepaid virtual Mastercard. Consumers should disable the tail fin (by cutting it on the full-size bath toy or by bending it on the mini-size bath toy), mark the body of the shark bath toy with the word “recalled” and the unique code provided during registration for the recall, then upload a photo of the product, showing it is disabled and marked, at https://www.recallrtr.com/bathshark. Upon receipt of the photo, Zuru will issue a refund to purchasers.

    Incidents/Injuries: Zuru is aware of 12 reports of children falling or sitting onto the recalled full-size Baby Shark bath toy, resulting in impalement injuries, lacerations and puncture wounds, including to children’s genital, anorectal and facial areas. Nine of the incidents required stitches or medical attention. There have been no reported incidents or injuries involving the Mini Baby Shark bath toys.

    Sold At: Walmart, CVS Pharmacy, Dollar General Corp., Family Dollar Services, HEB Grocery Company, Meijer, Target, TJX Companies, Ross, and Walgreens stores nationwide and online at www.walmart.com, www.target.com, www.amazon.com and other websites. The full-size Baby Shark bath toys were sold from May 2019 through March 2023 for between $13 and $15. The Mini Baby Shark bath toys were sold individually and in multi-unit packs from July 2020 through June 2023 for between $6 and $20.

    Description: This recall involves the Hurtle multi-purpose children’s helmet. The helmets were sold in black, blue, pink, white and red. The helmets have the word “Renegade” on the side in white or black lettering. The straps are black and the white warning label on the inside of the helmet states “Renegade” in black and orange lettering. The helmets are sized to fit head circumferences from about seven inches to about eight inches.

    Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled helmets and contact Sound Around to receive a full refund of the purchase price. To receive a refund consumers should destroy the helmet by cutting off the straps, upload photos of the helmet with the straps cut to the recall registration website and then dispose of the recalled helmet. Consumers who received the unit as a free promotion should dispose of the unit so that children cannot use it.

    Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 103 reports of the recalled humidifiers overheating, including 10 incidents resulting in smoke or residential fires, totaling more than $10 million in damage.

    Sold At: HVAC contractors nationwide and online at Amazon.com, Sylvane.com, Supplyhouse.com, Humidifiers.com and other websites from June 2010 through January 2015 installed for between $2,000 and $3,500.

  • CPSC Warns Consumers to Immediately Stop Using CCATTO Baby Tents Due to Suffocation Risk and Fall Hazard; Failure to Meet Infant Sleep Product Safety Requirements

    WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to immediately stop using CCATTO brand baby tents because they do not comply with mandatory federal safety standards for infant sleep products and because they contain a banned infant pillow, posing a fall hazard and risk of suffocation to infants.

    The baby tents fail to meet the safety requirements of CPSC’s Infant Sleep Products Rule, creating an unsafe sleeping environment for infants. The failures include: the tents are not supported by free standing legs and do not meet the markings and labeling and instructional literature requirements. In addition, the tents contain a banned infant pillow. The pillow is loosely filled with a granular material, including but not limited to, polystyrene beads or pellets and is intended or marketed for use by children under one year of age. The tent and its packaging also lack a tracking label containing certain required information, including the date of manufacture.

    The seller, LA.INNO Direct, of China, has not responded to CPSC’s request for a recall.

    The baby tents were advertised as a Portable Baby Tent, CCATTO Pop Up Beach Tent for Baby, Enhanced Ventilation, UPF 50+ Sun Shelter for Infant, Baby Camping Bed with Mosquito Net (Pegs, Travel Bag, Bonus Cooling Sleeping Kit Included). The baby tents have “CCATTO” branded on the top and are gray with neon green trim. The baby tents were sold online at www.amazon.com and other websites for about $30 in recent years. There is no labeling on the baby tents. 

    Although the Infant Sleep Products rule applies to products manufactured after June 23, 2022, CPSC urges firms to consider stopping sale of non-compliant infant sleep products regardless of the date of manufacture. These tents do not have a required date of manufacture labeled on the product or packaging. CPSC urges consumers to stop using the tents, cut the fabric, and dispose of the fabric and the pillow immediately. Report any incidents involving product injuries or defects to CPSC at www.SaferProducts.gov.

    Parent and caregivers are reminded:

    • The best place for an infant to sleep is on a firm, flat surface in a crib, bassinet or play yard.
    • Use a fitted sheet only and never add blankets, pillows, padded crib bumpers, or other items to an infant’s sleeping environment.
    • Infants should always be placed to sleep on their back. Infants who fall asleep in an inclined or upright position should be moved to a safe sleep environment with a firm, flat surface such as a crib, bassinet or play yard.

  • CPSC Warns Consumers to Immediately Stop Using Girasol Wrap Your Baby Sling Carriers Due to Failure to Meet Federal Safety Standard; Fall Hazard

    WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to immediately stop using Girasol Rainbow Love Woven Wrap sling carriers because they do not comply with the federal safety standard for sling carriers and infants can fall out of them. CPSC also urges consumers to avoid similar products from Girasol because they likely pose the same risk.

    CPSC testing revealed the Girasol Rainbow Love Sling Wrap carriers fail to meet the federal safety standard for sling carriers, including requirements for structural integrity and occupant retention. Additionally, the instructions contain incomplete warning statements required for the sling carriers. Sling carriers manufactured after January 30, 2018, are subject to the mandatory federal safety standard.

    The importer Baby Earthling LLC (d/b/a Wrap Your Baby), of Mountainair, New Mexico, has not agreed to recall the sling carriers.

    These sling carriers were sold online at www.wrapyourbaby.com until November 2022 for between $120 and $165. The carriers are made of a woven cotton fabric in a rainbow print that starts with red on one end, then orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and ending with violet on the other end. The sling carriers were in sizes 5 to 9, 2.60 meters to 6 meters (8.5 feet to 19.6 feet) and are intended for infants weighing between 8 and 35 pounds.

    CPSC is aware of other similar Girasol sling carriers offered for sale online at www.wrapyourbaby.com in the following models: Girasol Sherwood Woven Wrap Carrier, Girasol Rainbow Baby Woven Wrap, Barefoot Rainbow Girasol Woven Wrap, Sunshine Rainbow Girasol Woven Wrap, Girasol Atlantis Woven Wrap, Girasol Ocean Rain Woven Wrap, Girasol Wisteria Purple Woven Wrap, and Girasol Earth Woven Wrap but has not specifically tested the safety of those carriers, for which test samples are not currently available.

    CPSC urges consumers to stop using the sling carriers, cut the wraps to prevent future use, and dispose of the product. Report any incidents involving injury or product defect to CPSC at www.SaferProducts.gov.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to immediately stop using Momaid infant loungers because they do not comply with federal safety standards for infant sleep products, posing a risk of suffocation and a fall hazard to infants.

    The loungers fail to meet the safety requirements of CPSC’s Infant Sleep Products Rule because they do not have a stand. In addition, the lounger fails to meet the side height, markings and labeling, and instructional literature requirements. These failures create an unsafe sleeping environment for infants. The lounger and its packaging also lack a tracking label containing certain required information, including the date of manufacture.

    The seller, Zhejiang Juster Trading LLC, of China, is not cooperating with the CPSC on a recall of this product and is not offering a remedy to consumers. 

    The infant loungers were advertised as a Baby Lounger Portable Infant Co Sleeping Bassinet Newborn Cocoon Snuggle Reversible Nest Bed Travel Crib. They were sold with a pillow and in four different printed fabrics: Banana Gray Leaf, Blue Palm Leaf, Mint Lychee Leaf and Pink Lychee Leaf. The loungers were sold online at www.amazon.com and other websites for about $55. There is no labeling on the infant loungers. 

    Although the Infant Sleep Products rule is applicable to products manufactured on or after June 23, 2022, CPSC urges firms to consider stopping sale of non-compliant infant sleep products regardless of the date of manufacture.   • Beware of Products Labeled ‘Antimicrobial’

    What do credit cards, hockey helmets, kids’ toys, trashcans, toothpaste, deodorants, and shaving creams have in common? They all could contain triclosan, which for a long time has been touted as an effective antimicrobial agent for killing bacteria.

    Then it was discovered that triclosan could contribute to the development of antibiotic-resistant germs — super bugs — and the Food and Drug Administration banned its use in hospital cleaning agents and consumer soaps.

    Unfortunately, the FDA can’t regulate paints, clothes, sporting equipment, or furniture. That’s why you still can find triclosan in those products, as well as anything else that advertises itself as having “antimicrobial properties.”

    And it continues to cause problems, both for the biosphere and for you.

    A study published in the journal Antimicrobial Agents & Chemotherapy revealed how triclosan can help bacteria become more resistant to antibiotic treatments for diseases such as urinary tract infections. Researchers from Washington University in St. Louis found that repeated triclosan exposure makes bacteria able to survive “normally lethal concentrations of antibiotics,” including Cipro.

    Previous research has found that triclosan alters hormone regulation and could be harmful to your immune system.

    Be on your guard for clothing, house paints, toys, etc. that claim to control or kill germs and bacteria. There’s a good chance they contain triclosan. Manufacturers are not required to put that information in their labeling.

    Washing your hands thoroughly with plain soap and water is just as effective at getting rid of unwanted bacteria as so-called antimicrobials.

  • Child Seat Webbing May Fail/FMVSS 213 & 209

    Name of Product: CHILD SEAT

    Hazard: Baby Trend, Inc. (Baby Trend) is recalling certain Hybrid 3-in-1 Combination Booster Seat-Desert Blue child seats. The latch assembly webbing that secures the child restraint system to the lower anchorages may fray, which can reduce the strength of the webbing and fail to properly restrain a child in a crash. As such, these child seats fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 213, “Child Restraint Systems,” and 209, “Seat Belt Assemblies.”

    Remedy: Baby Trend, Inc. will mail owners a replacement latch assembly webbing and installation instructions, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 30, 2023.

The rounded triangle wooden tables measure about 21 inches wide and 18 inches high. The toys on the table are made of wood and metal. The round table measures about 22 inches in diameter. The tables are multicolored with gray, pink, blue and white. The tabletop activities include a grooved track for vehicle play, a bell arch, a bead and wire maze, a shape sorter, gear activity and stacking activity. The model number J04402 or J04411 can be found on a label on the underside of the activity table.

    Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled activity tables and contact Juratoys for a free repair kit.
